Let’s play 2!

Ernie Banks received the Presidential Medal of Honor in November 2013.

Hello SK fans,

We’re going to divert away from our usual topics today to honor a great man, Ernie Banks, known also as Mr. Cubs, Mr. Sunshine and MADS’ all-time idol. Ernie died last yesterday at 83 years old. He was a devoted Cubs’ player and fan, pouring his soul into every game, always hoping for a double-header.

MAD grew up outside Chicago and Ernie became his lifelong hero, much the way LMA became My Pub’s. News of his death hit hard. This morning MAD, Pub and I watched YouTube videos of some of Ernie’s best plays, including clips of his 500th home run.

MAD attributes Ernie’s excellent sportsmanship with making him a better person. You’re always in our thoughts Number 14, xo LMA

No doubt MAD appreciates sharing the moment with you. It’s good of you to do so. Ernie Banks was quite a guy. Quite a guy.

I’ve loved hearing and reading all the tributes to Ernie Banks. I’m not a huge follower of the game but I always wish I had been when I hear stories of the good ol baseball days.
